From the moment you enter Beach Plum Farm, you'll notice at least a few in-house residents: our free-range chickens. A sustainable and fowl-friendly poultry program is at the heart of our operation at Beach Plum Farm—and now, we invite you to learn the basics of raising chickens in your own back yard. The capstone project during your getaway will be to build a beautiful Amish-designed wooden chicken coop with your fellow Rooted guests, with expert instruction every step of the way. Throughout your getaway, our Beach Plum Farm Livestock Manager Andrew Halbruner will provide lessons on the basics of how to raise hens for eggs, how to properly feed and care for chickens, how to protect your flock, and more.
